What is Siddha Maha Yog?
‘Siddha’ means perfect, and ‘Maha’ means greatest. Thus, Siddha Maha Yog is considered to be one of the most advanced paths of Spirituality. A serious spiritual aspirant who seeks to realize God within himself may consider this Yog system. To be initiated into Siddha Maha Yog, an aspirant must approach a True Guru from a lineage of this path, who will then initiate them based on their own experience and judgment. The initiation will aim to awaken the aspirant’s kundalini energy under the Guru’s grace.
What is Kundalini?
The term “kundal” means “Coiled” and “ini” can be translated as “power”, leading to a definition “the dormant energy coiled at the base of the spine”. Kundalini Shakti is the very energy of all consciousness that dwells within each living or non-living thing. It is also referred to as the divine femininity or “Shakti”.
What is Kundalini awakening?
When this dormant energy begins to rise through the various Chakras (energy centers) along the Spinal Cord, we consider the Kundalini to be awakened in that person. This is one of the major goals of several Yog systems, and there are many techniques to achieve the same. In its dormant state, the Kundalini remains at the base of the spine, near the Root Chakra (Mooladhar Chakra). This is when the Kundalini is said to be working outwards, meaning towards the material world. However, when the Kundalini is awakened, it starts moving inwards in a retrograde fashion, meaning towards oneself or, in other words, towards God.
What technique of Kundalini Awakening is employed by our Guru lineage?
The lineage of revered Gurus to which Siddha Yogini Thanishka belongs employs the Guru Mantra technique to awaken the seeker’s kundalini energy. A true Guru gives a Mantra to the seeker, who then chants it to awaken his/her Kundalini. The most important component here is devotion and complete surrender to the Guru in the seeker’s mind and spirit.
Does the Sadhana/Spiritual practice include performing Yog Asanas/postures, etc.?
No, Siddha Maha Yog does not involve these or any other practises. It is a form of the Yog system that rests completely on the essence of Surrender to the Guru Tattva. Loosely translated, Guru Tattva refers to the element of God that exists within the Guru’s body. Hence, sincere surrender and practicing Sadhana/Meditation regularly are the only two requirements of this path.
Do I have to be a Hindu to follow this path?
No. As this is purely a spiritual pursuit, it is not linked to any religions or nationalities. You can continue to follow your own religion alongside your spiritual meditation (Sadhan). The path of Siddha Maha Yog is open to all!
Are there any age or health restrictions to get initiated?
Although there is no age restriction per se for following a spiritual path, we only initiate adults over the age of 18. If someone is suffering from a serious health illness, then we refrain from initiating them.
Will I have to leave my family life or practise celibacy or any other diet/lifestyle restrictions?
No, there are no restrictions in Siddha Maha Yog. You may continue your normal life while doing your daily meditation/sadhan and serving your Guru.
What are the fees for initiation?
The Shaktipath initiation is free of cost. The Guru expects nothing in return except for your progress on your spiritual path.
Will the initiation take place in person?
Shaktipath deeksha/initiation does not necessarily require the Guru and the seeker to be in each other’s presence. The initiation shall be long-distance. Here, the Guru applies his/her power of intention to awaken the seeker’s Kundalini Energy. A long-distance initiation is as good as an in-person initiation. There is no difference between the two. You can take the deeksha at your own home.
Will I be guided through my journey?
Absolutely! A true Guru is always willing to guide his/her disciple through the various developments that will take place in a practitioner’s life (especially pertaining to the Spiritual Practice)
Do you accept donations?
Yes. If anyone wishes to donate anything to the Guru, they may do so willingly. Although there is no compulsion of any sort.
Are there any limitations for taking Shaktipat Deeksha/Initiation?
Persons with any major physical or mental illness are not given the initiation. Only adults who are willing and wish to proceed seriously on the spiritual path are considered.
